About Avondstil Guesthouse
Family, work, and welcome
At Avondstil Guesthouse, our story is rooted in family, hard work, and a deep commitment to creating meaningful experiences for others.
Founded by twin brothers Pieter and Dolf, Avondstil is the result of years of dedication, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit. Raised in South Africa, they were shaped by a diverse upbringing and strong family values.
Their father, a pastor, instilled integrity and discipline, while their mother, a preschool teacher, taught compassion and care, principles that remain at the heart of everything they do.
From as young as 12, Pieter and Dolf embraced hard work, taking on small jobs and steadily building their path forward. Their journey led them into the furniture trade, where they developed a passion for sourcing and restoring antique and mid-century pieces, an appreciation for detail and craftsmanship that still reflects in the guesthouse today.
Pursuing their long-term vision required sacrifice. At 18, Dolf moved abroad to support the growth of their business, while Pieter remained in South Africa to manage operations. Though distance was challenging, their shared vision never wavered.
Today, Avondstil Guesthouse stands as a reflection of that journey, a place where dedication meets comfort, and where guests are welcomed not just as visitors, but as part of a story built on care and connection.
